Pioneering innovation in multiplatform apps

The waiting is over for #AppsWorld North America 2013! Article

Good morning to all developers, mobility specialists, mobile marketers and app industry professionals! The waiting’s finally at an end; Apps World North America is up and running at the Moscone Center West.

Day one of Apps World promises great excitement, with vaunted speakers doling out spoonfuls of sparkling content on a variety of topics.

From monetisation to mobilisation, expertise will be provided by companies such as Twitter, CBS Interactive and National Geographic among others across 10 conference tracks, alongside a free exhibition hall with over 150 exhibitors.

A key highlight of the free-to-attend Droid World track is a panel discussion on best practice to build Android apps; whet your appetite with a track preview from’s Liyan Chang here.

Not that iOS is discounted either; check out Kevin McNeish, author of ‘iOS App Development for Everyone’, in the free-to-attend Developer Zone at 2:00pm. The Apple vs Android war has been put into humorous song, as can be seen here.

Twitter’s Sean Cook will be telling the Mobile Marketing & Advertising attendees how to leverage the massive scale of the micro-blogger to drive end-user engagement at 12:15pm, whilst Paul Lanzi of Gilead Sciences will be showing the Enterprise Zone audience how to bolster the UX in their enterprise apps at 10:45am.

Elsewhere, the Mobile Payments track features an interesting panel on m-commerce at 12:00 featuring representatives from MasterCard, Western Union and Verizon Wireless; while Drew Onufer of National Geographic examines defining a successful mobile content strategy at 4:00 in the Mobile Marketing track.

It’s not all about content, however, as various speed networking sessions will be taking across each of the tracks between 1pm and 1:45pm in the Connect Live Area near the registration zone; so be armed with your business card and make as many new friends as you can.

And once the workshops stop, the networking doesn’t. The official Apps World party will be taking place at the Mezzanine at 7:30pm, so take the short walk down from the Moscone for an evening of connecting, relaxing and schmoozing.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions and make your voice heard, as interaction is at the forefront of the proceedings. Be sure to join the Twitter conversation too, and don’t forget to use the #AppsWorld hashtag.
