The partnership involves a license to use sensewhere’s indoor positioning software in Tencent Maps, also making sensewhere Tencent’s preferred vendor for location-based advertising services in China. The big news came after sensewhere making a big push towards the tech markets in China gaining key patent grants, and opening its latest office in Shenzhen.
sensewhere’s patented tech automatically narrows down a consumer’s location to within ten metres with no beacons or fingerprinting involved in the process, so retailers and advertisers can target customers in a very customised, context aware fashion by sending vouchers and offers straight to nearby smartphones.
Tencent’s investment will allow sensewhere to rapidly expand the development of the indoor location database as plans are underway to integrate the software with all major apps made by Tencent and its affiliates.
Indoor location embodies the future of intelligent advertising, and the roll-out of sensewhere solutions to millions of users in China and neighbouring markets is set to stream significant worldwide revenue opportunities.
sensewhere will yet again present its demos at the Apps World show, so pop by booth #230 for chats and insights.
