IMGA, the long-time definitive awards program in the mobile games industry, today reminds mobile games studios, talented indie developers, publishers involved in any aspect of the creation of mobile games across the globe to enter their games into the competition before the deadline of 31 December 2015. All submitted games will be played by a jury of industry experts, consisting of representatives from companies such as Supercell, King, Ustwo, ARM and Microsoft as well as journalists from Pocket Gamer, VentureBeat and elsewhere. The first judging session will be held in Marseille on 25th and 26th January 2016. Winners will be announced at the annual awards ceremony in March 2016 in San Francisco.
IMGA also announced that, for the first time, it is introducing a new category for Virtual Reality (VR) games on mobile platforms including the Samsung Gear VR and Google Cardboard to its line up. Developers and studios are invited to submit their VR games, released in 2015 or yet to be published in a playable condition.
“IMGA has a longstanding history of recognizing those game developers who are tackling emerging categories across mobile games. We’ve nominated hit games the likes of Candy Crush Saga, Clash of Clans, Angry Birds ahead of their respective category peaks and hope to dig up the same champions for the VR category. With mobile VR games being the critical tool in introducing the masses to VR, it’s more important now than ever to recognize those who are setting the best tone, raising the standards and truly defining the space,” said IMGA founder Maarten Noyons.
For more than a decade, the IMGA has played host to a celebratory ceremony that unites the mobile games industry, by recognising the most original, skillfully crafted, and enjoyable games that are being made for smartphones and tablets.
